About Beth
Beth Rigby, nationally renowned Founder of Yoga Meets Dance, is an expert at combining gentle yoga, exhilerating music and fun-filled dance, for non-dancers and dancers alike. She has been teaching Gentle Kripalu Yoga and Yoga Meets Dance for over 20 years and previously served as a Staff Instructor and Program Director at the Kripalu Center for Yoga & Health. A gymnast in her youth, she took her first yoga class in 1982 and then studied many forms of yoga. Certified to teach Kripalu Hatha Yoga, Kripalu DansKinetics, and YogaRhythmics in 1995, she then directed dozens of retreats and taught over 10,000 classes at yoga studios, fitness centers, corporate work places, cruise ships, and schools throughout the U.S. and Canada, working with a wide variety of populations and adapting classes for all fitness levels and ages.
Beth was introduced to Soto Zen Meditation in 1994 at the Atlanta Soto Zen Center and has attended dozens of silent retreats at Zen Mountain Peace Center, Southern Dharma, and Upaya. In 1992, Beth received Swedish, Sports Clinical and Neuromuscular Massage Therapy certifications from the Academy of Somatic Healing Arts in Atlanta and worked for ten years as a massage therapist. A background in meditation and massage informs her gentle teaching style in addition to indepth knowledge of anatomy and physiology. Beth’s teaching style is gentle, intuitive and welcoming or beginners.
